Goals
SHORT-TERM GOALS
- 1. Plat the new north section of the cemetery with identifiable markers. Completed
- 2. Design and build a permanent road-way through the cemetery, with culverts for drainage, and exits. Completed
- 3. Revise the plat for the old section of the cemetery to note gravesites that are unavailable because of closeness to other graves, trees, walkways, or topographical limitations. Underway
- 4. Repairs to building. Completed
- 5. Encourage members to plant shrubs and trees that will be compatible with the over-all development of the cemetery, and that will not intrude on neighboring plots, or be difficult to maintain. Ongoing
- 6. Erect a marker/memorial at the north addition acknowledging the gift of Roy Adams and Rita Brown Julian.
- 7. Level all leaning monuments, and remove concrete curbing.
- 8. Repair or replace old broken monuments. Underway
- 9. Mark east and north boundaries of the cemetery with permanent signs in the creek and at the corners, noting the boundaries of Corinth Cemetery property.
- 10. Create a cemetery website. Completed
- 11. Obtain benches for placement around the cemetery. Completed
LONG-TERM GOALS
- 1. Place permanent markers throughout the cemetery noting sections, to facilitate grave site location.
- 2. Secure water and electricity at the cemetery.
- 3. Provide permanent restroom facilities.
- 4. Put permanent fund into a single trust with a management firm.
- 5. Kill off Bahia grass and cultivate low maintenance, high productivity grass.
- 6. Prepare south triangle of the cemetery property for parking.
- 7. Design and implement landscaping plan for the cemetery.
- 8. Formulate a plan for long-range expansion.
- 9. Establish and implement a plan for long-range facilities renovation.
ON-GOING GOALS
- 1. Keep the history of the cemetery intact and continue to record and preserve the history.
- 2. Elect members to the Board of Directors who are dedicated to the upkeep of the cemetery and who consider it a privilege to serve on the Board.
- 3. Preserve Corinth Cemetery as a family cemetery.
- 4. Review and maintain the Plat Board.
- 5. Keep brush and overhanging limbs trimmed in the cemetery.
- 6. Retain a free space on the inside perimeter of the fence to facilitate mowing.
- 7. Continue the process of education of the membership regarding the disposal of trash, old flowers, and border blocks.
- 8. Control Fire Ants.
